The new TV series Ultraman Decker will begin broadcasting on the TV Tokyo Network in Japan from July 9^th 2022! Every Thursday at 5pm JST, we will be introducing you to the latest news, and the main cast members starring alongside Kanata Asumi, the protagonist played by Hiroki Matsumoto.

Yu Koyanagi has been cast as Yuichiro Asakage, a scientist within the Terrestrial Peaceable Union (TPU), and the mechanical engineer for the anti-Sphere Unit, the newly reformed GUTS-Select.
Please look forward to seeing Yu Koyanagi as Yuichiro in his first return to the Ultraman series since 2010’s Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial, in which he played the protagonist Run who transformed into Ultraman Zero.

Yuichiro Asakage (31)

A scientist belonging to the Terrestrial Peaceable Union’s (TPU) Technology Division.

He develops the technology for GUTS-Select’s combat vehicles. He visits the Nursedessei to deliver new armaments he creates to the crew.

Befitting a scientist, he is always calm and composed, and if roped into battle he can control the mechs or give commands to their pilots.

Nice to meet you, I’m Yu Koyanagi.

I’m returning to the Ultraman universe after I played protagonist Ran in Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial 12 years ago. This time I’ll be playing Yuichiro, a scientist supporting the team.

I was happy to return to the set and meet some of the same crew members, and I’m moved to see them continue to watch over the series. Everyone welcomed me warmly on set and reminded me that I’m here to demonstrate my craft. I’ll devote myself to providing all my acting skills to this show.
