Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masayuki Nagatake) will begin broadcasting the new TV series Ultraman Teo on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. (JST), on the TV Tokyo Network’s six channels, with simultaneous worldwide broadcast and distribution in multiple languages.

We are pleased to announce the details regarding the opening theme song and soundtrack music for the series. 

■ Opening Theme Song: LINK HEARTS

Artist: ASTRO DONUTS

Lyrics: Shigenori Tanabe

Composition: Kenji Kawai, Takao Konishi, Yasuharu Takanashi

Arrangement: Yajiuma

This opening theme song expresses through its lyrics the story of Ultraman Teo protagonist Ibuki Mitsuishi, as he encounters many forms of life and builds bonds with the companions he meets through “miraculous encounters,” growing together along the way, accompanied by a rhythmic and catchy melody. The lyrics were written by Shigenori Tanabe, who serves as the series composer and head screenplay writer of the series. 

The composition and arrangement are handled by a collaborative team of three artists who have previously worked on Ultraman series’ theme songs and soundtrack music: Kenji Kawai, Takao Konishi, and Yasuharu Takanashi. Takanashi composed the verse, Kawai composed the pre-chorus, and Konishi composed the chorus section, while the three joined forces as the musical unit “Yajiuma” to arrange the track together, resulting in a unique creative collaboration.

The song is performed by the newly formed female vocal unit “ASTRO DONUTS,” created especially for this series. One of its members, Haruna, is a singer-songwriter who previously participated as a backing vocalist on songs from the New Generation Ultraman Series. Additional vocal members will be announced at a later date.

Just like the theme of the series itself, please look forward to the theme song created by members who gathered around Teo through a “miraculous encounter.” 

■ Soundtrack

The background music and soundtrack that bring Ultraman Teo to life are also composed and arranged by the three members of “Yajiuma”: Kawai, Konishi, and Takanashi, who also worked on the opening theme song.

The unit name “Yajiuma” (onlookers) was inspired by the fact that the three composers themselves make cameo appearances in the series as curious onlookers. Please look forward to spotting their scenes when the series begins airing this July.

Some of the soundtrack music can already be heard in the teaser PV currently available online.

In addition, the ending portion of the program features a track with scat vocals performed by “Queen of Anime Songs” Mitsuko Horie and Chiaki Seshimo from voyager.

As Mr. Takanashi and Mr. Konishi may also mention, the opportunity for the three of us to work together on the music for Ultraman Teo began with a conversation we had during a talk show at TsubuCon in 2019 about our favorite genres of music. We joked about how interesting it would be if each of us composed in different genres, and somehow it actually happened. What’s more, the theme song was composed relay-style by the three of us… More precisely, Mr. Takanashi handled the verse, Mr. Konishi composed the chorus section, and I connected the two in between. It was my first experience working that way, and it was a lot of fun! On top of that, the three of us even got to appear in the series as a group of onlookers, which was a truly rare and special experience. I hope everyone enjoys not only our music, but also our clumsy acting performances!

What’s more, I never could have imagined that the conversation we once had at TsubuCon—about how fun it would be someday to work together on a project and divide up the music writing—would actually come true, allowing me to collaborate with Kenji Kawai and Yasuharu Takanashi. You never know what wonderful things life has in store!

Since working on Ultraman X and Ultraman Orb, a great deal of time has passed, and I poured everything I’ve learned since then, along with my special feelings toward Ultraman, into this music. I would be very happy if my sound, alongside the music of my respected seniors, can help make this series something truly special.

I feel truly honored to be involved in this milestone year, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman series. Having previously participated in Ultraman productions as a chorus vocalist, I’m deeply moved to once again be involved with the series after all this time. Haruna has been confirmed to appear at the “ULTRAMAN MUSIC LIVE TOUR 2026” concert event, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 10, at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Ahead of the broadcast premiere of the new series Ultraman Teo, the opening theme song will be performed live for the very first time.

Ultraman Teo Series Outline

The commemorative work for the Ultraman Series’ 60th anniversary follows a lonely alien who arrives on Earth after losing his home planet and takes the form of university student Ibuki Mitsuishi (played by Aoi Iwasaki). As he encounters life on Earth and faces the threat of kaiju, he must overcome his reluctance to fight to protect those before him. Transforming into a blue giant, he fights alongside new companions and grows into a true Ultraman—at the heart of a tokusatsu coming-of-age ensemble drama.
