★About the comic

ULTRAMAN is a Japanese comic written by Eiichi Shimizu and drawn by Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The series is published in Monthly Comic Magazine HERO’S and is currently ongoing. The comic has sold more than three million copies. In 2019 it was made into a 3DCG anime, currently available on Netflix, and season two is on its way. Ever since its first publication in the 2011 issue of HERO’S, the comic has been extremely popular, making it one of the hallmarks of the magazine. The story follows the original Ultraman but with an all-new plot written by Shimizu and Shimoguchi.

The comic gives “Ultraman,” the giant of light, a refreshing new design by bringing ULTRAMAN into the modern era as a hero who fights in a powered armor suit!

With plenty of foreshadowing and suspenseful cliffhangers, fans won’t want to miss out on this story of adolescence and love starring relatable teenager Shinjiro Hayata.

Set several decades later in the world of the original Ultraman, this could be the most noteworthy superhero comic of the century!

Shinjiro Hayata

Son of the first Ultraman, Shin Hayata. Having inherited the Ultraman Factor from his father, he possesses super strength. He puts on an ULTRAMAN suit and begins fighting to help his father. Later, he becomes involved with the SSSP.

 

Dan Moroboshi

Height:182cm Weight:69kg Age:24

An agent of the SSSP. He fights with an ULTRAMAN suit similar to the one worn by Shinjiro.

 

Seiji Hokuto

Height:165cm Weight:52kg Age:16

A first year student in the same high school as Shinjiro.

After suffering tremendous injuries in a terrible accident, his was turned into a cyborg through a surgery performed by an alien. He uses the “ACE” suit to fight.

 

Shin Hayata

Height:175cm Weight:70kg Age:68

Shinjiro’s father. He was once assimilated with Ultraman.

He was brought near death during a battle with BEMULAR, but was saved by Shinjiro.

 

 

Rena Sayama

Height: 155cm Weight:45kg Age:19

An extremely popular singer. She is a huge fan of ULTRAMAN. She is saved by Shinjiro after being dragged into an incident involving aliens.

★Summary (From Vol.1-Vol.15)

 

Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined together with Shin Hayata of the Science Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters called Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero—a new kind of Ultraman…

Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.

With the SSSP now operating as a covert agency, Shinjiro Hayata has inherited the mantle of Ultraman from his father and learned of a new and terrifying alien invasion. Though Shinjiro has his father’s powers and an amazing armored exo-suit, he has a lot to learn if he’s going to survive this secret war!

The enigmatic Moroboshi takes Shinjiro, who is still having doubts about fighting as Ultraman, through a strange gate to a secret alien city. Meanwhile on Earth, the police and the Science Patrol go deeper into a sinister investigation when a new victim of a mysterious serial killer turns up.

Fighting to protect his childhood friend Yuko from the shadowy group that sent the Ace Killer Squad after him, Seiji Hokuto has his work cut out for him. But is this the true belief of the council or just a smoke screen for another, darker agenda?

After all that has come to light, Shinjiro now struggles with one question—is Ultraman good or evil? While he ponders this, Rena also comes to him with another revelation. Taro vows to fight the Star Cluster Council, believing that it has other plans for Earth besides its destruction and invasion. But the wild and mysterious Valky, maneuvering secretly within the Star Cluster Council, plays havoc with Taro’s mind.
